What to Expect at Assisted Living: Your First Week at Cedar Cove
You’re ready to leave the worry of mundane household chores behind you and embrace a change that will give you time to do the things you love during your senior years.
New beginnings are exciting, and we’d like to take you through what to expect at assisted living for your first week at Cedar Cove Assisted Living and Memory Care.
We realize that this new adventure may also come with questions. You may be asking yourself “What is assisted living and how can it help me?” or “Where can I find assisted living near me?” You may also be curious about whether Medicare will pay for assisted living. We’ll provide the answers you need and explore some of what you can expect when you arrive in our community.
What to Expect at an Assisted Living Facility
We view our residents as family because, in so many ways, they are. We’ll take time to get to know you and help you get settled in your new surroundings.
Meet Our Staff
We pride ourselves on our friendly, compassionate staff—and some of them have been with us for 10 years or more. When you arrive, you’ll be surrounded by smiling faces as you get to know our CNAs, nurses and other staff members.
Receive an Evaluation
What do you need help with? Perhaps you’re very independent, but you need help getting your shoes on. Or maybe you’re afraid of slipping and falling when you take a shower. Don’t worry. We’re here to help.
The first step in providing you the assistance you need is to get to know you and your individual situation. We understand that everyone has a different level of care that they need, and by getting to know you and evaluating your situation, we can better serve you during your stay.
Get Into a Routine
We’ll let you know how things work at Cedar Cove! This will help you get into a daily routine. We’ll tell you when to expect delicious meals in our café, as well as what events and activities you can get involved in. (NOTE: Some of our group activities may be adjusted or postponed depending upon state and federal guidelines for COVID-19 precautions. We follow all protocols to help ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.)
Make New Friends
We love it when our residents make new acquaintances. It’s this sense of community that makes Cedar Cove special. When you’re here, we invite you to take a moment to get to know your neighbors. They will be a big part of your new adventure at Cedar Cove.
What Is Assisted Living?
Assisted living provides you with a new living space free from the burdens of home maintenance and everyday chores. Meals and medication management are provided for you, and while you’re able to live independently, a compassionate staff is always available to lend a hand if you need help with bathing, dressing or other daily activities.
Some assisted living facilities, like Cedar Cove, also have certain rooms reserved for memory care, which provides services to those who have Alzheimer’s or other dementias.
Does Medicare Pay for Assisted Living?
Typically, Medicare does not cover the cost of assisted living (room and board). However, depending upon your Medicare plan, it may pay for medical care and medical costs that you incur while you’re in assisted living.
We understand that Medicare is confusing and often difficult to navigate. There are also many other ways you can pay for assisted living. We encourage you to contact our business office where we will help you and give you all the information you need to make an informed decision.
